A letter from Scottish Borders Council has been issued to pupils today about the Borders Railway Celebrations. Along with other schools we will be holding a special assembly and our allocated day is this Friday, 21st August. To mark the occasion, schools will be making a link to the famous Roald Dahl story ‘Charlie and the Chocolate factory’. A special delivery will arrive on Friday and each child will receive a commemorative chocolate bar at the assembly. One child in the school will win a ‘Golden Ticket’ to travel on the special trip from Edinburgh to Tweedbank along with all the other lucky winners from Scottish Borders Schools. Some Literary prizes will also be hidden in a few bars. If your child has any allergies or you do not wish your child to eat the chocolate bar on the day please let us know as we will have alternative ‘healthier’ snacks and they can keep the bar to bring home.
We realize this is very short notice but if children wish to dress up for the occasion they are welcome to participate in this way. Children are also encouraged to bring along a small donation as part of SBC’s fundraising Appeal for ‘Cash for Kids’.
We will be telling the story of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and showing the film tomorrow to P2-P7 classes. (Thursday 20th Aug). This film is rated PG so please get in touch with school if you DO NOT wish your child to watch and we will make alternative arrangements.
Good luck everyone!
